The workshop will present the Open publishing related activities of the University of Nova Gorica and Managing of Research Data in Compliance with Policies in the European Research Area, which will be given by experts from Central Technical Library of the University of Ljubljana.

The event is MSCA SMASH activities and part of the activity 6.2.1/4 of the Open Science Action Plan, funded by the Government of the Republic of Slovenia.

Mirjana Frelih is heading UNG Press (https://ung.si/en/publisher/), active since 2001. It publishes textbooks and other materials for academic courses at UNG as well as research and science oriented works for general audience.

3 Managing Research Data in Compliance with Policies in the European Research Area / 1

The lecture will present the European Commission’s requirements for managing research data within the Horizon Europe programs, as well as the obligations set out in Slovenian legislation related to science. We will also discuss the requirements of the European Research Council in this domain.

The lecturer, Mag. Miro Pušnik is the director of the CTK. He is an expert in scientific communication, actively promoting it alongside advocating for open science practices, responsible metrics for evaluating scientific research, and involving broader communities in scientific work through citizen science. He is actively involved in managing Coalition S, participates in working groups of the European Open Science Cloud, and contributes to the activities of the Slovenian Open Science Community.

4 Managing Research Data in Compliance with Policies in the European Research Area / 2

The lecture will address the preparation of research data for sharing according to the FAIR principles. Its final part will be dedicated to presenting information support network for Open Science, established under the Open Science Action Plan, in which the University of Nova Gorica is also involved. Existing online guides and the information support options will be showcased.

The lecturer Dr. Uroš Kunaver is employed at CTK as the head of the IT department. He focuses on organizing and managing the work of CTK’s IT services, while also developing and implementing the IT strategy. He collaborates with other computing centers and libraries on access to CTK's computing services and assists with the procurement of specialized software and databases.
