Description

The workshop will present the Open Library and Center for Quality Assurance in Scientific Communication, unethical practices of publishers in scientific publishing: how to recognize them and how to deal with them, copyright Issues and role of services and infrastructure in advancing science and research.

These topics will be presented by experts from Central Technical Library of the University of Ljubljana and Slovenian Academic and Research Network - ARNES.

The event is part of the activity 6.2.1/4 of the Open Science Action Plan, funded by the Government of the Republic of Slovenia.

      Mag. Miro Pušnik is the director of the CTK. He is an expert in scientific communication, actively promoting it alongside advocating for open science practices, responsible metrics for evaluating scientific research, and involving broader communities in scientific work through citizen science. He is actively involved in managing Coalition S, participates in working groups of the European Open Science Cloud, and contributes to the activities of the Slovenian Open Science Community.

      Role of services and infrastructure in advancing science and research 45m

      Marko Drobnjak is an open science expert at the Academic and Research Network of Slovenia (ARNES). He completed his PhD at the Faculty of Law, University of Ljubljana, specializing in language and law, with a focus on the role of speech perception in the evaluation of witness testimony. Before joining ARNES, he was a junior researcher at the Institute of Criminology at the Faculty of Law, Ljubljana, and a Fulbright researcher at UC Berkeley. As a researcher at the Institute of Criminology, he also concentrated on the legal, ethical, and technological aspects of processing textual and speech data for scientific, research, and industry purposes. He is currently involved in the experimental and statistical aspects of the LASAR project (Linguistic Accessibility of Social Assistance Rights in Slovenia) at the Faculty of Law, University of Ljubljana.
